Not only will you find hundreds of hair salons to choose from, but salons with hair stylists specializing in about any style and/or treatment that you might want to have done to your hair; you won’t know where to begin.  What does one do? You should start by asking people you know; ask them who their hair stylist is, and if they are willing to share. Ask the people with whom you work, ask your neighbors, even ask members of the same club or church group.   This is paying a compliment to those you ask. They will be proud of their hair style and most will be happy to share this information with you. If you are new to the area and don’t know anyone, you might have a harder task at hand if you are shy.  You will need to be brave and just ask people you encounter along the way.  Most will be flattered, and will be happy to share.

Wanted: Interview with Hair Stylist, Chicago--There is nothing wrong with interviewing your future hair stylist.  It is after all, your hair and you want it to be done right. How you conduct that interview is up to you.  You might consider going into a potential salon and looking around and observing the atmosphere: is it clean? Are people happy and cheerful? How old or worn are the magazines and books? Is there dust on the product shelves? This would be a silent interview, interviewing the salon verses the actual hair stylist.  Talking with the receptionist, the salon owner or even asking some of the clientele who are waiting, might be a little uncomfortable, and they might not like talking with a stranger; but relax, take a deep breath and explain that you are new to the area and that you are looking for a new hair stylist. You just might find out that is was worth the effort. 

Changing or finding a new hair stylist can be challenging, especially finding one who knows how to work with your hair. It can become such a daunting ordeal.  It isn’t a task or challenge that you want to attempt every few months. So when finding your new hair stylist, Chicago has many options and finding the right one is up to you.
